It was a sunny morning, and we had just crossed the Colorado-Kansas border, picking up US-36, which we plan to follow through both Kansas and Missouri. Our first stop was St. Francis, KS, for a bite of lunch. We had been told that most of Kansas' small towns had very welcoming city parks where weary travelers could stop for a rest, or even overnight. Imagine our delight when we realized the first park we encountered, right on US-36, had a nice, shady spot for our lunch break, plus this Old Country Church AND a nice museum. In addition, the people we met in St Francis were every bit as genial as we'd been told they'd be! Welcome to Kansas! If you're traveling by RV, you're welcome to stay overnight at the city park behind the museum.
